I enjoyed this year’s August Geocaching Challenge much more than last year’s. Took me to a lot of neat caches! (This screenshot is from a while ago, there ended up being over 66,000 geocachers who earned the Achiever souvenier)

When I was at the West Bend Cache Bash a couple weeks ago, I was introduced to the Ice Age Trail Alliance. Someone that we were caching with had volunteered as part of it to rebuild a section of the Ice Age Trail. Intrigued, I stopped by their vendor booth at the Bash. While there are no upcoming opportunities in my area, I’m looking forward to getting involved next spring.

There is also a ColdCache Program. This essentially involves finding earthcaches along the Ice Age Trail. Each ColdCache presents a different geological feature related to the Ice Age. Based on the number of ColdCaches and variety of features that you discover, you can register for the ColdCache awards program to earn patches to display your knowledge of the ColdCaches across the state. My goal is to become a “Glacier” level ColdCache master within the next year. To learn more, visit http://www.iceagetrail.org/hiking-awards-and-programs.

I shared a picture of this cache before, but I found it again today to drop off a travel bug that wants to move on and collect as many miles as possible. It is a travel bug hotel locate on I 94 just before you enter Minnesota from Wisconsin.

I found the super cool foldable Geocoin in it! Had to grab it to move it on along and share it with everyone.

This was a series of 7 caches during the West Bend Ca$h Bash. It was called 7 brides for 7 brothers. Points if you can guess the bride/movie they are from!

As you can see my favorite was the princess, well because duh! I am a princess. Ha-ha

Last weekend was the seventh annual West Bend Cache Ba$h. This year almost all of the caches had a number seven theme, including 007 James Bond, the seven New Wonders of the World, seven brides, seven lucky signs, seven geocaching sins, the colors of the rainbow, and the seven days of creation. This year we came close to finding all of the caches - my goal next year is to fill my card!

West Bend GeoTour

Last week I completed my first GeoTour, the brand new one in West Bend, Wisconsin. Growing up in West Bend, I knew a lot of the history of the city. But it opened my eyes to some of the sites that I’ve never truly appreciated until now. So if you’re in the area, be sure to check it out!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on Tumblr - life has been crazy busy! I went to Charleston, SC for a week last month and found caches in three new states! Charleston is such a beautiful, historic city and there were some pretty cool geocaches there. This month I’m doing the 31 days of geocaching - for each day you find a cache in the month of August, you get a souvenier. And if you find a cache each day, you get another souvenier. Plus next weekend is the sixth annual West Bend Cache Ba$h - I can’t wait!

I hid my first geocache this weekend. It is a book in my parents’ Little Free Library. Open the book and the inside is cut out with room for pencil, log sheet and some small trinkets. It has already been found!
